Burlesque
After winning a competition with Glamour magazine on Twitter I was lucky enough to take my boyfriend and best friend to the Burlesque premiere at the Empire cinema in Leicester Square, to see the movie and walk the red carpet with all the stars.
It was an unbelievable experience, and definitely one I will never forget!!
The movie Burlesque is a fun, feel-good romance musical, not unlike previous musicals Chicago, Hairspray, Moulin Rouge - you can definitely tell where the director Steven Antin got his inspiration from!
Christina Aguilera’s powerful voice overshadows the fact that this movie is her acting debut. I have to say she isn’t that bad at acting, but like I said, her voice is why you should go see this movie. It is so effortless and intense in every single song she sings throughout that you can’t help but sit there enthralled, unable to take your eyes off her.
It also doesn’t help that she has an amazing figure which she shows off in a range of tiny corset-like outfits and tight fitting t-shirt/jeans combos. What happened to her on X Factor no one will ever know… (She looked big…well bigger than in the film anyway!)
For the female viewers on the other hand there is the beautiful Cam Gigandet (of OC and Twilight fame) and you get a sneaky peek of his peachy little bottom in the film!! What more of a reason do you need to see this film!?!

Another actress/singer in Burlesque that cannot be forgotten is of course Cher, who at the age of at least 64, still looks amazing! Yes she has had work done, and yes I saw her ginger coloured hair at the premiere but in the film…wow! Who wouldn’t want to look, sing and act like her at that age?! Again her voice captivates the audience – have you ever taken your eyes off the screen in the cinema for a few seconds and looked round at all the open-mouthed viewers? Every time Cher sung was one of those moments!
The burlesque-ness of the film’s costumes paired with a few raunchy scenes will undoubtedly keep any male partner or friend happy when you drag him along to see it.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
All I can write for now (as I need to get ready to go out!) is....O.M.G. THIS FILM IS AMAZING. GO SEE IT STRAIGHT AWAY. The cinema I went to see it at had 7 showings throughout the day, and at 8pm last night they were ALL sold out. I think that shows how utterly outstanding this film is.
As everyone should know it also ends half way through so as to keep the suspense ready for the next film. Although we all know it doesn't make it less annoying when it ends and you want to see the rest.
Be warned, this film is not for people who don't care about Harry Potter or have never seen any of them before...there is just no point. Do not go see it just to be in with the 'hype'; you are not a true fan unless you go out and buy (and read) J.K.Rowling's full collection of words you wish you'd written.

Due Date
Due Date was one of those films where everything funny that happens, you've already seen because it is all in the trailer. Except that the trailer was pretty funny so it didn't actually ruin the film! I would say it is more of a 'boys' film because my boyfriend couldn't stop laughing the whole way through whereas I sat there and didn't understand why he was laughing half the time...
One thing that got me through it was definitely the surprisingly sexy Robert Downey Jr. I've never really realised that he is in fact 'sexy'. Do you know what I mean? He's never been near the top of any 'Top 10 Gorgeous Guy' polls that I know of and when he's up against people like Robert Pattison and Ryan Reynolds you can see why, but there was something about him in this film that put him on that list. Though I guess when you're stood next to Zach Galifinakos (really should find out what his surname is....) there really is no contest. No offence Zachy.
To me, Due Date felt like another version of The Hangover, minus the whole Stag Do/Wedding scenario, and Borat put together.
It was also rather cringey at times, for instance when Robert's character hits a little boy...was that really neccessary!? Child abuse! It was more scary than funny though as you've probably already guessed my boyfriend found it hilarious. There was a subtle hint of a 'is she/isn't she' having an affair but it never reaches a climax it just subtley hints and then nothing comes of it. Jamie Foxx is only in the film for about two seconds - was there really any point to his cameo?
One thing that I still don't understand however, is how did they escape the Police at the Mexican border?!! Yes I know it's a film and you have to look past all the crap but seriously it would never happen!?
Due Date was what I would call 'randomly funny' as in the story would flow from conversation to conversation with a bit of gentle banter but then WHAM! suddenly something happens that would make everyone crack up. If you're having a bad day then yes, this film would put a smile on your face, otherwise just watch the trailer.

The Bounty Hunter
The Bounty Hunter was not at all what I expected. For a start it didn’t have the predictable storyline you’d imagine. Ex husband and ex wife hate each other, see each other, go through something together, get back together. But there was so much more to this film!!!! The trailer does the film justice, by not giving much away unlike some which have all the good bits so when you see the film you feel like you’ve already seen it.
The start was explosive, starting with a flashback then taking you back a day to explain what’s going on. This is a clever way of getting the audience interested right from the very beginning and the director Andy Tennant does this to perfection – it really is an edge-of-your-seat movie right from the word go. Now don’t get me wrong of course, the film is in the rom-com category so don’t expect to see another Mission Impossible or James Bond!!
The first thing I noticed though was that Jennifer Aniston has had work done to her lips!!! WHY???? She is beautiful!! But like my friend mentioned, she is 41 and I guess she just wants to stay looking young for as long as possible. Gerard Butler is absolutely gorgeous too – what two better reasons for going to see this movie than the main two characters? The couple work really well together, it’s a shame they’ve denied the rumours that they’re actually a couple in real life! They’d have beautiful children!
Jason Sudeikis (who you might recognise from 30 Rock or What Happens In Vegas) plays THE most annoying character in a film I’ve ever seen. At the end though, he does get a brilliant one-liner that made the whole cinema crack up with laughter. Christine Baranski (from Mamma Mia) is hilarious playing Kitty, Jennifer Aniston's mum.
If you want laugh-out-loud comedy, high speed car chases, mystery, drama and a bit of romance then The Bounty Hunter has it all!!

What A Wonderful Family Film
When my best friend told me he'd booked Alice in Wonderland 3D tickets for the Friday (5/3/10) it came out I was so excited! It feels as if this film has been around for ages, due to the eye catching trailers and film stills and the whole controversy surrounding Disney and cinemas fighting over when the movie should be released on DVD. Before it has even been seen by anyone remember!! What if it was a flop?
Of course the mixture of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp is the definition of success so this was never going to be a problem. Disney just wanted to rake in more money from the DVD sales while cinemas wanted to make more money by keeping the film in cinemas for longer. Greed is getting the better of both! And at the end of the day who wins? We do! For getting to see the movie in the first place wherever we watch it!
Even though I’d wanted to see the film ever since it first got mentioned I wasn’t really sure what to expect. Someone told me in passing that the film was about Alice grown up and I had heard another rumour about it being all a dream.
Without giving anything away the synopsis for Alice in Wonderland focuses around an older Alice remembering a reoccurring dream that she has had since she was a little girl which suddenly starts to become less and less dream-like when she begins to see a white rabbit summoning her to follow him. Can you imagine! You’d think you were crazy wouldn’t you?
The film has a slightly slow start but picks up to become very fast-paced and exciting the minute Alice steps foot in Wonderland. I guess that is the idea though – reality in comparison to fantasy is boring!! As with all these types of films I expected it to be predictable but believe me it isn’t! Burton’s style of film is dark and mysterious and is 100% mesmerising – definitely one that keeps you interested the whole way through! Especially with the amazing 3D and CGI effects used!! I actually felt as if Wonderland was a real place – you forget it’s all computer graphics! The music by Danny Elfman is another thing not to be forgotten. Having written the music for most of Burton's classic films for example Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Batman, it's clear he knows what he's doing!!
Alice in Wonderland’s cast is packed full of famous faces/voices. From JD to Matt Lucas to Stephen Fry - even Barbara Windsor!! And whilst I absolutely LOVE Johnny Depp I have to say that newcomer Mia Wasikowska stole the spotlight with her beautiful portrayal of Alice. One of the best scenes is when she tumbles down the hole into Wonderland - keep you're eyes open for this scene!!!
As always when it comes to Tim Burton films, Helena Bonham Carter was in on the act playing the part of the evil Red Queen. Does she only ever appear in films her partner has produced? I understand the playing the same part over and over (evil, slightly crazy woman…no guessing what her personality is like) – if you’re good at something you stick to it, but at least go for some parts without your partner being involved!!!! The only film I can think of that she has done without him is Harry Potter and look how that has turned out!! She should go alone more often!

Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter is amazing!!! There is definitely a Jack Sparrow quality to the role aswell. Having seen him and Burton on Jonathon Ross the week before I totally agree with what Jonathon said: you don’t expect Johnny to sound like he does because of all the voices he puts on!! I expect him to sound like a pirate the whole time (I wish anyway!).
Overall I would say that Alice in Wonderland can be compared to the likes of Enchanted and Narnia – the mixture of reality and fantasy is perfect to keep the whole family interested. Go and see it!!
